Career Highlights

Roberto Luo is a licensed patent attorney and attorney at law in China. He has worked in patent areas for more than 15 years, focusing on helping clients build their patent portfolios globally and enforce their patents in China. Roberto also provides his clients with various patent-related due diligence opinions and dispute resolution opinions, especially for those high-tech companies having business in the US, Europe, or China. Roberto has handled over 1300 patents, and two-thirds of them are international patents. In addition to Chinese patent matters, he is also familiar with European and US patent matters due to his long-time practice. Roberto has a technical background in EE, telecommunication, computer science, automation, and automotive electronics. He has represented many Fortune 500 companies for their patent matters in China, including ABB, Bosch, Celgene, Continental, Ericsson, Epson, GE, Gillette, GM, Honeywell, Illumina, Intel, Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly-Clark, Klauke, Kraft, Mann Diesel, Nokia, P&G, Phillips, and Volkswagen, etc. Roberto has also provided directory opinions for several start-up technical companies and their growth; half already have a $100 million valuation. Roberto specializes in providing patent opinions for companies in the fields of semiconductors, telecommunication, artificial intelligence, and big data. He was once an engineer at Bosch. Roberto started his patent attorney career in China Patent Agent (CPA), the earliest and most significant patent firm in China, and worked there for about four years. Roberto also worked at Jones Day, one of the top-ranked global firms, for about four years.


He is an arbitrator at the Wenzhou Arbitration Commission and has been appointed as one of the overseas IP dispute resolution experts of the National Overseas IP Dispute Resolution Guidance Center, Shanghai Branch. The Supreme Court selected one patent infringement case he won for the client as one of the 2019 annual IP Model Cases.
